On Monday 30th October we ran an Autumn and Day of the Dead-themed ‘Give it a Go’ event in Biggin Hall. We started with an autumn-themed creative writing workshop with Jessica Taggart Rose from Co-relate. This was very well received and all of the group enjoyed writing poems about the very colourful season. After the session, Michelle put everyone’s poems together to make a digital zine. Click here to read our Autumn zine!

After some lunch, we had a selection of activities to fit in with the themes. Rainna had some colourful glazed tiles for us all to decorate. There was lots of inspiration for everyone around the hall and ideas sheets posted around the tables, so everybody had something they could etch onto their tiles. The group are a fantastic group of artists!

The lovely team from Future Foundry showed us all how to make some lanterns using willow, as it's bendy enough to work with, masking tape, PVA glue and tissue paper. The group did a wonderful job of building them!

Jenny from Kent Wildlife Trust ran some nature wand-making. She had collected lots of natural Autumnal bits and bobs; from acorns, all the way through to feathers. There were lots of things to choose from, and everyone enjoyed showing their lovely creations to each other.

Michelle spoke to group members throughout the day, to see what they enjoyed and what they’d like to see in future events. This will be taken away and considered for future events. Thank you everyone for such a lovely day, lots of great conversations and for showing me your fabulous creations.
